Marco De Vincentis BA FFA FFTA
Managing Director
Being originally educated in Birmingham at both Secondary & University level, Marco qualified whilst working at an International top 20 firm in Birmingham City Centre whilst specialising in taxation. In 1996 Marco (and his wife) decided to form MD Associates to cater for the specific needs of SME’s and owner managed businesses. Marco manages a wide portfolio of clients of all sizes in differing industries and market sectors. He still specialises in Tax Investigations being a Fellow of the Federation of Tax Advisers and offers extensive advice in raising business finance, start-ups and helping clients reach their true potentials.
Outside of work, he enjoys (watching) all sport, particularly rugby as an ex- semi-professional player himself and playing the occasional game of golf. Always keen to see new places, Marco likes to travel, but is equally as happy simply spending time at home relaxing with his wife (Sabina) and two children.
Sabina De Vincentis
Head of Payroll Compliance Services
Sabina moved to the UK in 1992 from Galway on the West Coast in the Republic of Ireland after completing her studies at Dublin Marino College and is the co- founder of MD Associates. Sabina has more than 20 years of experience in payroll and has expertise in Payroll Calculation of Earnings, Tax and NIC, Statutory payments and Auto Enrolment Work Place Pensions.
She also has extensive experience of acting on behalf of clients to resolve payment and penalty issues that arise from HMRC.
Sabina still regularly returns to Ireland to visit family and friends whenever time allows, however most of her time away from the office is occupied looking after the very demanding needs of her children (and husband!) which she says in all truthfulness she really enjoys.
Paul Alton BSc FCA FAPA (Registered Auditor)
Head of Financial Reporting
Paul Alton is a qualified Chartered Accountant, an Authorised Public Accountant as well as a Registered Auditor. He has a vast knowledge with some 35 years of experience helping small and medium sized business. His specialism is keeping at the forefront of new developments in financial reporting & audit to ensure clients’ reporting is fully up to date.
Paul is now a proud grandfather and as such takes every opportunity to look after his grandchildren whenever allowed to so, even taking them on holiday on occasion.
Tamar Smith ACCA BSc (Hons)
Head of Client services & accounts
Tamar has worked in the accountancy profession for over twenty years both in practice and industry. She has vast experience with a variety of cloud accounting packages and works with businesses from a range of sectors assisting them to implement and use these systems effectively. In addition to which Tamar specialises in the accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and audit exempt companies. She is a qualified Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a graduate of Oxford Brookes University.
In her spare time she enjoys painting, creative writing and reading.
Zeeshan Bawany CTA ACCA MAAT ATT
Senior Tax Manger
Zeeshan previously worked for a national tax consultancy firm and prior to that a city firm in Leicester, where he achieved his Chartered Tax Adviser and Association of Taxation Technicians’ qualifications. He is also an ACCA & AAT qualified accountant. He provides tax compliance and taxation advice to sole traders, partnerships, individuals and limited companies. He also has extensive teaching experience and as a qualified lecturer is regularly invited to speak at seminars, on local radio and conferences on current taxation issues.
Zeeshan still lives in Leicestershire. He enjoys long walks in the countryside and takes a keen interest in all things relating to plants, flowers & gardening in general. However, his overriding passion is food and eating out!
Martin Kaney BA LLB (Hons)
Senior VAT Associate
Martin has over 35 years' experience in VAT with HM Customs & Excise and various professional firms. He is a Member of the VAT Practitioners Group Technical Committee, a Council Member of the Gerson Lehrman Group, and has been a freelance trainer in the UK for BPP Professional Education, MBL Seminars, and internationally for Prospects Development Services (Nigeria), Corsol Events (UAE) and Euro Strategic Events (Saudi Arabia). He is also the author of two textbooks on VAT in the Public Sector and has specialist expertise in VAT litigation, partial exemption, land and property and international VAT.
When not working Martin enjoys watching all sports, spending time with his family and any activity that gets him out in the fresh air!
Natalie Collett MICB PM.dip
Head of Records Management
Having 25 years’ experience in the accountancy profession, Natalie has worked for a number of firms ranging in size from Top 10 to smaller rural practices. She is currently head of the firms Record Management and bookkeeping department, overseeing and managing clients in a wide range of industry sectors. She is responsible for ensuring that clients’ records are maintained accurately and compliant to current legislation and has been at the forefront of integrating the very latest cloud based technology into our practice.
Outside of the office, she enjoys walking, having completed a charity double Marathon in 2018 and spending time with her family.
Frank Edwards
Client’s Services Senior
Frank originally joined MD Associates in 2006. A long-standing team member and highly skilled accountant, Frank is highly recognised in the local business community, having nearly 30 years’ experience working with small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups from a variety of sectors.
Clients value Franks for his skills in statutory accounts preparation, management accounts, cash flow forecasting, and VAT advice. He is also constantly looking to advise clients on improvements to their accounting systems, encouraging them to adopt digital cloud based software to improve their business where appropriate.
When not working Frank has a keen interest in motor cars and regularly travels the length of the country in pursuit of his passion, much to the dismay of Mrs Edwards!
